The Dream Journal – January 2018

Hello!

Happy new year! We’re happy to report that our house in NH holds the heat very well. This is important when you consider that we’ve been in the middle of a rather brutal cold snap since the day after Christmas. Tonight should be the last of it, but Mother Nature is taking it out in style — our overnight low tonight is supposed to be somewhere down around -18F, and it’s windy.

Thankfully, things are supposed to be a bit warmer by the time of our first show this month! We’ll be splitting the afternoon of Saturday, January 13th with Bruno’s Human, our friend Charles Collins, at the Farm Cafe in the Toadstool Bookstore in Keene, NH. We were disappointed to have our last show at the Farm Cafe in December cancelled by an ice storm, so we’re looking forward to all the wonderful baked goods we missed, and to share some musical fun with Charles. There will definitely be collaboration! We play 3-5pm.

We’re continuing our monthly online Concert Window concert series on Tuesday, January 16th at 8pm Eastern time. Let us take your mind off all the cold and snowy weather with some warm and friendly music! Curl up on the couch in your snuggliest PJs with your laptop, a cup of hot cocoa and a blanket, and enjoy an hour of Dan & Faith in the comfort of your own living room. Just bring up http://www.concertwindow.com/danandfaith and enjoy the show. If you’re on your laptop, there’s a chat window where you can chat with us during the show (haven’t found the chat window on our phones or tablets yet, but it might be there if you hunt!).

On Tuesday, January 23rd, we’ll be doing a slightly different online show. Harmony in Unison, a virtual stage on Facebook, runs daily performances Sunday through Thursday. Just go to Harmony in Unison’s Facebook page and ask to join the group. At 8pm Eastern time that evening, go back to the group page, and we’ll be playing live through that Facebook group. You can interact with us via comments on the feed both during and after the performance. And if you miss the show, you can still watch it at via the archived video. Don’t forget, you need to join the page beforehand. Do check out some of the other artists’ performances that are archived in the group!

Just a reminder, there is no Serendipity Songwriter Session this month. It will be back in February with host Beth DeSombre.

To help ring in the new year, we offer up a celebration of the winter solstice. Dan wrote this song in late 2014 when we went on Nick Noble’s radio show, The Folk Revival, on WICN-FM for his holiday show. Nick’s only rule for the 2-3 songs you play on his holiday show is that at least one of the songs must be a holiday song. We figured the winter solstice doesn’t get a lot of songs written about it, so Dan wrote one. Click here to listen to a demo recording of Solstice.

Our CDs Seeking and Simple Grace are available from us at our shows, on our website, or you can find them at CD Baby, iTunes and most other online music stores. Seeking has been specially mastered for iTunes, which gives higher fidelity over standard iTunes recordings.

As always, you can find additional schedule information on our website, https://www.danandfaith.com. For more frequent news updates and information, check out our Facebook fan page and follow us on Twitter (@danandfaith).

The best possible cure for cabin fever is to go out and listen to live local music. Stay warm!

The Dream Journal – December 2017

Hello!

The garden is plowed under, except for the kale. We’ve fired up the wood boiler, and there’s snow on the ski trails on the Vermont mountains across the valley. Darkness steals in a lot earlier, and it feels like we should all be hibernating. But if you hibernate, you’ll miss all the music!

Things starts early this month, with a show in at the Hearing Room in Lowell, MA on Friday, December 1st from 8-10pm. We’ll be sharing the evening with our friends Sharon & Nick Pangaro in Duality: A Duo of Duos. There will be collaboration! Thanks to Aaron Tornberg of Mushroom Music for the opportunity to play this cool grassroots art and performance center. Suggested donation of $5.

We’re back from our travels, which means we’re back at the Serendipity Cafe in Maynard, MA for the Serendipity Songwriter Sessions on Wednesday, December 13th. Our guest songwriters this month are Kirsten Manville and Mike Laureanno. This month’s theme, chosen by November’s audience, is “The Evolution of Truth”. Come enjoy tasty food, hot beverages and amazing baked goods, listen to lots of original music, and help us choose the topic for February’s showcase! (The showcase is taking the month of January off). Music runs 7:30-9:30pm.  Many thanks to Beth DeSombre for hosting in October and November!

Every December, Nick Noble at radio station WICN FM in Worcester, MA hosts one of his weekly Folk Revival broadcast as a live in-studio holiday show. This year, his show will be Thursday, December 14th from 7-11pm. It’s a whole evening of live performances by local New England musicians, with a definite holiday theme! We’ll be on sometime during the evening. Join us as part of the studio audience, tune in locally at 90.5FM, or stream online at http://www.wicn.org.

We’re continuing our monthly online Concert Window concerts on Tuesday, December 19th at 8pm. Put down the wrapping paper, curl up on the couch with a glass of eggnog, and tune in to http://www.concertwindow.com/danandfaith for a live concert streamed into your own living room. You can even send us messages while we’re performing!

We close out the month with another trip to the Farm Cafe at the Toadstool Bookstore in Keene, NH on Saturday, December 23rd. Combine the opportunity to pick up a last minute book for your hard-to-shop-for cousin, a late lunch with a decadent (but healthy) dessert, and some relaxing music. Need a break from holiday songs and the craziness of the malls? By then, so will we!  Music runs 3-5pm.

Our CDs Seeking and Simple Grace are available from us at our shows, on our website, or you can find them at CD Baby, iTunes and most other online music stores. Seeking has been specially mastered for iTunes, which gives higher fidelity over standard iTunes recordings.

Our best wishes for a festive and joyous holiday season to one and all, and we hope you’ll make a New Years resolution to enjoy more local music in 2018!
