The Dream Journal – September 2019

Hello!

We’re kicking back after the long Labor Day weekend with two outdoor shows in Keene, NH and Cooperstown, NY, thanking our lucky stars that the weather stayed good for both, and watching Hurricane Dorian slam the poor Bahamas. If you’re anywhere near the path of this monster, we hope you’re taking it seriously! Up in our little northeast corner of the US, hurricanes are a rarity, a fact for which we are infinitely thankful. It’s one of many things we like about living in New England.

Another wonderful thing about New England is the wonderful farmers markets we have here. The Collinsville Farmers Market in Collinsville, CT is a particularly lively market, and we’ll be playing there this coming Sunday, September 8th. We’re hoping the rooster, Joe Cocker, will be back to add his unique harmonies to our music! The market runs 10am to 1pm.

On Wednesday, September 11th, we’re back at the Serendipity Cafe in Maynard, MA for the Serendipity Songwriter Showcase. Our musical guests this month are Rich Eilbert and Bernice Lewis. This month’s song topic, as chosen by August’s audience, is “Just cut it in half“. Stop in, have a tasty dinner and dessert, and enjoy some wonderful original songs! Plus, you get to help choose the song topic for October’s musicians. Music runs 7:30-9:30pm.

What do you get when your local general store decides to put in a pizza oven? You get Pizza Night at the Acworth Village Store in South Acworth, NH! And on Saturday, September 14th, you’ll also get us playing music. The good folks at the Village Store create delicious pizzas in their wood-fired oven from 5:30-7:30pm. BYOB or pick up a beverage inside the store, and we’ll keep you entertained while you enjoy your pizza.

We’ve lost track of the number of times we’ve been on DJ Nick Noble‘s show, The Folk Revival, on WICN-FM in Worcester, MA. Nick is a delightful host, and has been very supportive of all of us local musicians over the years. We’re back on the air with Nick on Thursday, September 26th. Tune in in the Worcester, MA area at 90.5FM, or go to http://www.wicn.org and click on “Listen Live Online” in the top right corner (if you don’t see “Listen Live Online“, bring the site up in the Chrome browser). Nick’s show runs 7-10pm EDT.

Late September brings us near the end of farmers market season. We’ll be playing at the Keene Farmers Market in Keene, NH on Saturday, September 28th. The market runs 9am-1pm. Stop by and stock up on late-season vegetables, tasty breads, and maybe consider some early holiday shopping with the crafters. We’ll supply the tunes!

Our CDs Seeking and Simple Grace are available from us at our shows, on our website, or you can find them at CD Baby, iTunes and most other online music stores.

As always, you can find additional schedule information on our website, www.danandfaith.com. For more frequent news updates and information, check out our Facebook fan page and follow us on Twitter (@danandfaith).

Whether it’s indoors or outdoors, search out your local music! You’ll be glad you did.

The Dream Journal – August 2019

Hello!

After teasing us all with a cool, wet spring, Mother Nature pulled out all the stops and started throwing heat and humidity at us. And zucchini. Hoo boy, do we ever have zucchini! Four of the healthiest zucchini plants we have ever seen in our entire lives are inundating us with enough zucchini that we’ve been donating a bunch to the local food bank and still have more than we can keep up with. But is it ever delicious! Nothing beats fresh-picked veggies from your own garden. Except maybe live music!

We’re headed down to Serendipity Cafe in Maynard, MA for the Serendipity Songwriters Session on Wednesday, August 14th. Our musical guests this month are Aaron Tornberg and Bo Veaner. This month’s song topic, as chosen by July’s audience, is “I swear in traffic“.  Stop in, have a tasty dinner and dessert, and enjoy some wonderful original songs! Plus, you get to help choose the song topic for September’s musicians. Music runs 7:30-9:30pm. Thanks to Beth DeSombre for hosting last month!

If you love fresh veggies and live music, there’s no better way to combine them than by coming by the Hartland, VT Farmers Market on Friday, August 16th! Great produce from local farms, good food from the food vendors, beautiful crafts, and music by yours truly. The market runs 4-7pm, and we’ll be playing starting at 4pm for an hour or so.

From there, we’ll be zipping across the river to the United Church of Acworth in Acworth, NH for their Friday, August 16th potluck dinner. This is one of those rare opportunities for us to play less than 5 miles from our house. The folks in Acworth have been very welcoming, and appreciate good local music. The gathering starts at 6:30pm.

Late August is prime harvest time in New England, so we’re off to the Salem, NH Farmers Market on Sunday, August 25th. This is a new market for us, and we’re excited to check it out! We’ll be trading sets with Aaron Tornberg. The market runs 10am-2pm.

We finish out the month at the Keene Music Fest in Keene, NH on Saturday, August 31st. There will be music all over town, but we highly recommend the Singer Songwriter Stage outside the Toadstool Bookshop. We’ll join Kim Snyder, Tom Pirozzoli, Richard Lewis, Jenny Burtis, Chris & John Boehmer, Ben Yelle, and Picket Hill for all original music from 1-8pm. We’ll be playing 2-2:45pm, but we highly recommend you check out all these other great musicians throughout the day. Grab a meal at the Farm Cafe in the front of the bookshop while you’re there, too!

To give you a quick sneak peek ahead, we’ll be playing at the Cooperstown Artisan Festival on the lawn of the Otsego County Courthouse in Cooperstown, NY on Sunday, September 1st from noon-2pm. Arts, crafts and music, in Faith’s home town!

Back in January, we played at Stage 33 Live in Bellows Falls, VT, and got some great videos of the show.  This month, we give you Faith’s song, Roller Coaster.  Life is a few unwelcome adventures, interspersed with beauty and joy.  Here’s hoping this video brings you a bit of joy.

Our CDs Seeking and Simple Grace are available from us at our shows, on our website, or you can find them at CD Baby, iTunes and most other online music stores.
