Hello!
We’re being inundated with snow peas. This is not a bad problem to have! We were thoroughly convinced that the woodchucks that figured out how to get through our electric fence had decimated the pea plants, but those plants are tough little buggers! It’s been quite a few years since we last grew snow peas, so having them in stir fries, salads, and tonight’s soup has been a treat. After more than a year of singing to a computer screen, playing in front of live audiences has been a treat, too! We’re taking great delight in doing that as much as we can.
This Sunday, July 11th, we start off our month with a Popup Concert at the Springfield Unitarian Universalist (UU) Church in Springfield, VT. This is one of the places we were scheduled to play in 2020 that fell through because of Covid, so we’re happy to have the opportunity to play there this year. Music starts at 3pm. The plan is to hold it outdoors on the Meetinghouse lawn, but if Mother Nature decides to throw some rain at us, we’ll move indoors into the Meetinghouse. If it’s moved indoors, masks and social distancing are required by the venue.
Summertime is farmers market season! We’re playing at the Peterborough Farmers Market at the Community Center in Peterborough, NH on Wednesday, July 14th from 3-6pm. The market is held rain or shine, but will pack up in case of thunder and lightning. Stop by, pick up some fresh produce and prepared foods, browse the arts and crafts, and we’ll serenade you as you do it.
Our first show in August will be the Acton/Boxboro Farmers Market in Acton, MA on Sunday, August 1st. We’ll be playing 10:30a-12:30p. Hoping to see some familiar faces in our old stomping grounds!
The Serendipity Songwriter Showcase and Midweek Song Swap will be back soon. Meanwhile, stop by the Serendipity Cafe in Maynard, MA, get yourself some tasty takeout, and tell Laura and Johnny we said hi!

After more than a year of singing into a computer screen, we’ve recently had both a live in-person concert and a jam session with friends. Oh, how we have missed both! To be able to look into the eyes of our audience, to sing directly to them and have them sing along… To sing multi-part harmony and throw in a bit of bass or harmonica or banjo on a friend’s song… Wonderful! And when you add in all the hugs we got, that just made it even more special. We’ll still be doing online shows, but it’s so nice to be able to play live again.
We’re joined for our Midweek Song Swap this Wednesday, June 2nd by the duo Friction Farm (Aidan Quinn and Christine Stay). This husband and wife team combine storytelling, social commentary, and humor to create songs of everyday life, local heroes, and quirky observations. Music starts at 7:30pm Eastern on our Facebook page and YouTube channel.
If you’re in the Peterborough, NH area around midday on Thursday, June 24th, join us from noon to 1 in Depot Park (12 Depot Street) for Listen & Lunch! Bring a picnic, a blanket or folding chair, and we’ll serenade you through your lunch break. There’s ample free parking, and easy access. If it rains, the show will be cancelled.
