The Dream Journal – December 2021

Hello!

The garden is now snuggled down in a blanket of post-Thanksgiving snow; the fridge is full of apples, potatoes, and cabbage; we’re putting the last of the celery and kale into the freezer. Our daily outdoor walks are earlier in the day so we catch some daylight. The neighborhood Christmas lights are going up, and the temperatures are going down. It must be December!

The Midweek Song Swap continues this Wednesday, December 1st with our guests Andy & Judy Daigle. Andy & Judy are fellow multi-instrumentalists with close harmonies on their storytelling songs. It is a delight to be able to swap songs with them! Tune in to our Facebook page or YouTube channel for an hour of music starting at 7:30pm Eastern time.

Every year, WICN radio DJ Nick Noble hosts a live holiday version of his Folk Revival show where local musicians come by the studio to share songs in the holiday spirit. This year, his holiday show is Thursday, December 16th. We’ll be stopping by the studio to share a few songs with Nick, along with a whole bunch of other great New England musicians. You can catch Nick’s show from 7-10pm Eastern time in the Worcester, MA area at 90.5FM or online at https://www.wicn.org (click where it says “Listen Live Online”).

Speaking of songs in the holiday spirit, our new single, Solstice, is now available! When we first played on Nick Noble’s holiday show, his only requirement for playing was that at least one song in our set must be a holiday song of some sort. Dan decided the solstice was under-served by holiday songs, and thus Solstice was born. We now have a full recording, including a delightful dancing fiddle accompaniment from John Kirk. It’s available for streaming and download from our Bandcamp page.

You can also find copies of our albums Then and Now, Seeking, and Simple Grace through Bandcamp. As an extra incentive, on the first Friday of every month (Friday, December 3rd this month), Bandcamp waives their already low revenue share and turns all album proceeds over to the artist. They’ve committed to doing this throughout the pandemic, and will be continuing through at least the end of 2021.

Our albums Then and Now, Seeking, and Simple Grace are also available from us on our website, through Bandcamp, or you can find them at iTunes and most other online music stores. Our music is also available streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

As always, you can find additional schedule information on our website. For additional content, follow us on Patreon. For more frequent news updates and information, check out our Facebook fan page and follow us on Twitter (@danandfaith).

We wish you and yours a peaceful holiday season and a joyous musical new year!

The Dream Journal – November 2021

Hello!

We can’t ever remember a time in New England where we’ve still had fairly decent fall foliage on Halloween. Normally some major storm or hurricane has tracked through and blown all the leaves into the next county, but this year everything was a bit later than normal, including the final leaves dropping. Even our first frost was delayed until late in October this year. We know that’s not a good sign, but it sure was nice to enjoy produce from the garden until much later in the year. Even now we’re still harvesting kale, celery and parsley, and the refrigerator is chock full of potatoes and apples. But the late foliage season was an even more unexpected treat.

The Midweek Song Swap is back! We’re starting off this Wednesday, November 3rd at 7:30pm Eastern time with Rick Drost. Rick’s songs look at life from varied angles – jilted lovers, swans in the Boston Public Garden, leftover lobsters, and meditations on meditation. Rick is one of the first songwriters we met when we started out on this crazy musical path. Join us on our Facebook page or YouTube channel as we share music and conversation with Rick.

Our song swapping fun continues with Aimee Van Dyne on Wednesday, November 17th. Aimee is a new friend in the songwriting world, and we’re looking forward to hearing more of her music. Listen in on our Facebook page or YouTube channel starting at 7:30pm Eastern time.

One of our favorite places to play over the years has been the Parish Center for the Arts in Westford, MA. Covid willing, we’ll be back there on Sunday, November 28th as the featured act at the PCA Open Mike, hosted by John Ferullo. We used to be regulars at this open mike, and we’ve missed it! Doors open at 6pm, music starts at 6:30pm, and we’ll be on sometime around 8pm. Come listen, come play! You won’t find a more welcoming open mike anywhere.

We want to thank everyone who has subscribed to our YouTube channel! We have graduated from the unintelligible, unmemorable string of random characters to a real URL: https://www.youtube.com/c/DanFaith Stop by the channel, check out our videos, and feel free to subscribe if you haven’t already.

As we get closer to the end of the year, we’re also coming up on the holiday season. If you’re worried about supply chain issues, worry no more! Head on over to our Bandcamp page, where you can purchase copies of Then and Now, Seeking, and Simple Grace. We’ll ship them out to you ASAP, or you can download them directly. As an extra incentive, on the first Friday of every month, Bandcamp waives their already low revenue share and turns all album proceeds over to the artist. They’ve committed to doing this throughout the pandemic, and will be continuing through at least the end of 2021. Remember, CDs make great holiday and birthday gifts!

Our albums Then and Now, Seeking, and Simple Grace are available from us on our website, through Bandcamp, or you can find them at iTunes and most other online music stores.  Our music is also available streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

Try to be extra nice to folks this month. There are a lot of frazzled people out there, and tempers are a bit short. A smile and a kind word go a long way to help make this world a better place.
