The Dream Journal – September 2022

Hello!

How did it get to be September already? Our field corn crop is rather sparse, but our sunflowers are making up for it. One sunflower variety is relatively short with multi-colored blossoms; the other advertises itself as having 12 foot stalks, and that advertisement is accurate. They’re huge! The neighborhood bees are loving the blossoms. We found a few straggler peaches in our orchard in the last week or so, and we have one pear tree that looks like it will grace us with some gnarly looking pears. Lots of new growth on all the fruit trees. Our foxes have moved along for the season, but the young turkeys and their guardian mamas are still around. Not quite sure how many flocks we have, but we sure do have a lot of turkeys!

We have one show this month, and it’s going to be a fun one! We’re back live, in person, at Wild Hog In The Woods in Madison, WI on Friday, September 16th for our “Dueling Duos” show with Andina & Rich (Sandy Andina and Stephen Lee Rich). We’ve done a few shows with Sandy and Steve over the years, and they’re always a hoot! The show is at the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center. Doors open at 7pm, music starts at 7:30. Admission is typically $2 for members, $4 for non-members, and during the show they pass “Phillup the Pig”, a ceramic wild boar piggy bank. Proceeds from Phillup are split between the venue (a great neighborhood resource!) and the musicians.

Last year’s live show at the Parish Center for the Arts in Westford, MA was our first live, in-person indoor show in what felt like forever. Here’s our song New Vision from that show. Laugh together every day!

Our albums Then and Now, Seeking, and Simple Grace are available from us on our website, through Bandcamp, or you can find them at iTunes and most other online music stores. Our music is also available streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

The Dream Journal – August 2022

Hello!

The fox pups have grown up and are out hunting with their parents, so we don’t see them very often. But now we have turkey poults coming around with their watchful hens! It looks like there are several batches of poults, as we’re seeing them in multiple sizes. We celebrate having lots of turkeys around the property, as they eat ticks. Our sunflowers are getting tall, and the smaller variety has started blossoming; the larger variety is still growing. Our field corn is a bit sparse, but it’s there! After we got back from our most recent trip, we had to do a fair amount of weeding to find all the corn plants. Don’t know how much corn we’ll get from what’s there, but it’s fun to try.

Even though we’re looking forward to doing more traveling, it’s nice to have a few local shows this month. This coming Saturday, August 6th, we’re playing Saturday Night At The Village Store in South Acworth, NH. The Village Store offers dinner and live music, or dinner-to-go (we recommend sticking around!) from 5:30 to 7:30pm. The menu is different every week, so stop in and see what’s cooking, and stay for our music! This show is weather-dependent, so if the weather looks iffy, contact us!

We’re deep into summer now, and summer definitely brings farmers markets! The Peterborough Farmers Market at the Community Center in Peterborough, NH has a great variety of produce, baked goods, and crafts. On Wednesday, August 10th we’ll supply the soundtrack for your shopping! The market runs 3-6pm, rain or shine (they close for thunder).

Peterborough, NH is a great town for the arts! In addition to the music at the farmers market, they also host music downtown at Depot Square. Their monthly summer Listen & Lunch series is in its third year, and we are delighted to be closing out the series for the year on Thursday, August 25th from noon to 1pm. Depot Park is surrounded by great shopping and dining, and has beautiful walking paths along the riverside. Bring a picnic lunch, and enjoy the music! This show is weather-dependent, and will be canceled in the event of rain.

Harvest time is one of our favorite times of the year!  Fresh sweet corn, home-grown tomatoes, all things that we seek out in the fall.  Our song Harvest Time is a celebration of all that makes the harvest special!

Our albums Then and Now, Seeking, and Simple Grace are available from us on our website, through Bandcamp, or you can find them at iTunes and most other online music stores. Our music is also available streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

Seek out live local music at your local farmers markets! You get fresh food for the body and music for the soul, all in one trip.
