The Dream Journal – November 2022

Hello!

We arrived home from our travels a couple of weeks ago, just missing peak foliage here at home but seeing some spectacular fall colors as we drove north. And even here at home, we caught some rather nice color post-peak. Even just a day or two ago, across hillsides of grey (bare branches) and rust (oak leaves), there were still splashes of bright yellow. Temperatures are delightful for working outdoors, so we’ve been digging rocks out of our walking path. Or rather, boulders! There’s one we’ve lovingly named “The Whale” that may take us until spring to dig out. We’ve already broken one spade against its companion boulders, and haven’t found the Whale’s edges yet. It’s turning out to be quite the challenge!

It’s been a few months since we’ve done any online shows, but we have a couple of online things happening this month. This Sunday, November 6, we’ll be playing on Open Mic America, an online open mic for original music in a wide range of styles. We’ll get 10 minutes, which will let us play two songs, and we’ll chat a bit with the hosts. The show is on YouTube for roughly 90 minutes, starting at 8pm Eastern time; we’ll be on somewhere near the beginning. Don’t forget to set your clocks back Saturday night so you catch this at the right time!

The Loop At The Armory is a showcase of singer-songwriters mostly located in the Boston area. It’s currently being held online. The November Loop on Thursday, November 17th features Tia McGraff & Tommy Parham, Peter Lendorff, Linda Marks, and Dan & Faith! Each act will present a 30 minute set, starting at 7pm Eastern time. The order of the acts will be determined that evening. You can watch it live on Facebook or YouTube, and can send us comments while we play (if watching on Facebook, please grant the streaming system permission to see your name at streamyard.com/facebook so we can tell who’s commenting during the show).

On our recent trip, we visited a lot of very cool places, including several national parks, and took a lot of photos.  We’ll be posting some photo essays and stories from the road on our Patreon page over the next several weeks.

Music makes a great holiday gift! Our albums Then and Now, Seeking, and Simple Grace are available from us on our website, through Bandcamp, or you can find them at iTunes and most other online music stores. Our music is also available streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

As always, you can find additional schedule information on our website. For additional content and stories from the road, follow us on Patreon. For more frequent news updates and information, check out our Facebook fan page and follow us on Twitter (@danandfaith).

As we approach Thanksgiving, we’re thankful for your interest in our music!

The Dream Journal – October 2022

Hello!

Road trips can be a lot of fun if you take the time to explore on the way. Yes, we’re out here for gigs, but we’ve also been exploring as much as possible, too. We’ve hiked along the shores of Lake Superior, through the Badlands, and on top of Scotts Bluff National Monument, as well as down into Carlsbad Caverns. We’ve visited with friends across the country. We almost blew off the road in Wyoming, and we baked in the sun in Texas. We’ve picked goatheads out of the bottoms of our shoes (Google ‘em — they’re nasty little seed pods with thorns in all directions!), and tracked a ton of sand into the van. We found excellent vegan food in St. Paul, MN; Santa Fe, NM; and the middle of nowhere west of Fargo, ND. And we’ve met some wonderful people along the way. It’s been fun, and we’re still going!

Jan Seides runs a great in-the-round showcase series at Kick Butt Coffee in Austin TX. This month, the 2nd Sunday Songwriters gets moved back a day to Saturday, October 8th (long story!). We’ll join Jan and fellow guest songwriter Scott Duncan for an afternoon of original music. Show runs 1:30-3:30pm (CDT). We would love to see our Austin area friends!

The following weekend we head for Nashville TN and the 34th annual Southern Festival of Books. The Festival is among the oldest literary festivals in the US, and welcomes approximately 200 authors and 25,000 visitors each year. The Festival is free, and includes more than 60 publishers and booksellers, as well as food trucks and performance stages. Our friends Michael & Nell have invited us to join them for their music stage sets on Friday, October 14th at 3:45pm and Saturday, October 15th at 5:15pm. You can browse books, meet authors, and listen to music. What’s not to love?

We sell our albums online, both physical copies and downloads, through Bandcamp. Normally, Bandcamp takes a small cut of each sale to finance their efforts, but on the first Friday of every month, they waive their revenue share and turn it over to us! This month, Bandcamp Friday is this coming Friday, October 7th. It’s not too early to start thinking about holiday gifts…

If you can, travel. See the country, see the world, talk to people, listen to music in strange new places. It’s worth every minute.

Dan & Faith
