The Dream Journal — May 2016

Hello!

Grateful thanks to all who came out for our CD release celebration this past Sunday at the Common Street Spiritual Center in Natick, MA! It was a delight to share our music with everyone, and to have Eric Lee and Eric Kilburn play with us. And now that our CD has been released, we’re ready to hit the road! But first, a couple of shows close to home.

This coming Sunday, May 8th, bring Mom to Serendipity Cafe in Maynard MA for their Mothers Day brunch. We’ll be playing 11am-1pm. Treat Mom to a sweet crepe and an espresso while we play our own originals and select cover tunes.

Wednesday, May 11th we head back to Serendipity Cafe in Maynard, MA for our monthly Serendipity Songwriter Session. This month, our guest songwriters are Eric Lee and Rob Siegel. Our theme this month, chosen by our April audience, is “The pros and cons of being alone and free vs. lack of a partner” (hey, it’s what the audience came up with!). Come enjoy a great dinner, some decadent baked goods, and an evening of wonderful original music. And you get to help choose the theme for the June session! We play 7:30-9:30pm. The cafe opens their doors especially for us on these Wednesday evenings, so let’s show them how much we appreciate their support for local music!

And then, we head south! Our first stop on the way is Avenue 209 Coffeehouse in Lock Haven, PA on Saturday, May 14th. Avenue 209 is a gourmet coffee house dedicated to bringing the freshest coffee possible, prepared to perfection. We’ll mix that perfect coffee with our own mix of music. We play 7-9pm.

The next afternoon, Sunday, May 15th, we’ll be at the Frederick Coffee Company & Cafe in Frederick, MD for their semi-monthly Songwriters Songfest from 4-7pm. The Coffee Company offers a variety of breakfast foods, salads and sandwiches all day long. We’ll be sharing the evening with J. Kolb and Brian Derek.

We continue our trek south with a stop at the WDVX Blue Plate Special in Knoxville, TN on Wednesday, May 18th. The Blue Plate Special is a live performance radio show at the WDVX studio inside the Knoxville Visitor Center. Anyone local to the area can stop by and see the show live in studio or listen live at 89.9FM in Knoxville; folks further away can hear it streaming live at http://wdvx.com. The show runs 12-1pm. We’ll be sharing the hour with Naked Blue & Jason Harrod.

Even though we won’t be there, the Bolton Public Library Unplugged open mike will still be happening on Thursday, May 19th at the Bolton Public Library in Bolton, MA. Our special guest host this month is keyboard player extraordinaire Roland Ochsenbein. All genres of music and spoken word are welcome. Got a new song about May flowers? A poem about Cinco de Mayo? Or just looking for a great place to hear talented local performers? We do a formal two-song first round, and then pull the chairs into a circle and jam until we run out of songs, we run out of steam, or the cleaning crew runs us out! Open mike starts at 7pm. Piano players — since Roland is hosting, no need to contact us ahead of time for a keyboard.

While Roland is holding down the fort back home, we will be at the Southeast Regional Folk Alliance (SERFA) conference in Montreat, NC Wednesday-Sunday, May 18th-22nd. If you’re at the conference, we hope to see you! We have showcase slots in the Mass Appeal and Welcome to SERFA showcases on Thursday night and the Cup of Joe showcase on Saturday night. Stop by and listen!

Friday evening, May 27th, we’ll head to the Urban Farmhouse Market & Café on Norfolk St. in Richmond, VA. The Urban Farmhouse Market & Café was founded in 2010 with a mission in mind: Bring the farm to the city and suburbs and provide area residents with local, wholesome food in a warm, rustic environment. We’ll bring our wholesome music to add to the mix. We’ll play 6:30-8:30pm.

Dan had the privilege of singing with the All City Chorus and Concert Choir in New York City back in high school, under the direction of Dr. John Motley. Dr. Motley passed away in May, 2011 at age 89.  This month, we offer Maestro, Dan’s tribute to Dr. Motley, who was one of his earliest musical mentors.

Our CDs, Seeking, Simple Grace and Dreaming of Another Path, and our EP, Live At Roslindale, are available from us at our shows, on our website, or you can find them all at CD Baby, iTunes and most other online music stores. The Dream Journal Extra — Late April 2016

Hello!

We wanted to send out a brief update, as we have one new gig and two quick reminders for you.

This coming Sunday, April 24th is a busy day for us. We start the day at Snowy Owl Coffee Roasters in Brewster, MA for their Acoustic Sunday. We’re told this is a great little cafe right on Main Street, and that the coffee is excellent. We’ll be playing 10am-noon. Come on by for a late morning cup of freshly roasted coffee and some uplifting music!

Thanks to the internet, music can happen anywhere in the world and be heard anywhere else in the world. So why not hold an online music festival? Join us for the GoGirls Online Music Festival on Sunday, April 24th. The festival runs 1-9pm ET. Go to the festival’s Concert Window master page to see links to the individual performers. We are on 2:20-3pm at our own Concert Window page.  An entire day of music by talented women from across the country (and a few men, too!). If you couldn’t catch us that morning in Brewster, we hope you’ll come find us online that afternoon.

And last, but certainly not least, the release celebration for our new CD, Seeking, is Sunday, May 1st at 4pm at the Common Street Spiritual Center in Natick, MA. Seeking is a musical adventure designed to take listeners down life’s byways — with joy and sorrow, longing, love, light and hope. The central theme is an exploration of the roads less traveled. The concert is free; we hope you’ll buy a copy of the CD to take home with you. We’ll have a few special guests joining us that day. Please come celebrate with us!

Our new CD, Seeking, is available from us at our shows or at our website, https://www.danandfaith.com. Our previous CDs, Simple Grace and Dreaming of Another Path, and our EP, Live At Roslindale, are available from us at our shows, on our website, or you can find them all at CD Baby, iTunes and most other online music stores. Seeking will be available online starting May 1st.

As always, you can find additional schedule information on our website, https://www.danandfaith.com. For more frequent news updates and information, check out our Facebook fan page and follow us on Twitter (@danandfaith).

We’ll be back in May with the full details on our upcoming southern tour.
