The Dream Journal – December 2017

Hello!

The garden is plowed under, except for the kale. We’ve fired up the wood boiler, and there’s snow on the ski trails on the Vermont mountains across the valley. Darkness steals in a lot earlier, and it feels like we should all be hibernating. But if you hibernate, you’ll miss all the music!

Things starts early this month, with a show in at the Hearing Room in Lowell, MA on Friday, December 1st from 8-10pm. We’ll be sharing the evening with our friends Sharon & Nick Pangaro in Duality: A Duo of Duos. There will be collaboration! Thanks to Aaron Tornberg of Mushroom Music for the opportunity to play this cool grassroots art and performance center. Suggested donation of $5.

We’re back from our travels, which means we’re back at the Serendipity Cafe in Maynard, MA for the Serendipity Songwriter Sessions on Wednesday, December 13th. Our guest songwriters this month are Kirsten Manville and Mike Laureanno. This month’s theme, chosen by November’s audience, is “The Evolution of Truth”. Come enjoy tasty food, hot beverages and amazing baked goods, listen to lots of original music, and help us choose the topic for February’s showcase! (The showcase is taking the month of January off). Music runs 7:30-9:30pm.  Many thanks to Beth DeSombre for hosting in October and November!

Every December, Nick Noble at radio station WICN FM in Worcester, MA hosts one of his weekly Folk Revival broadcast as a live in-studio holiday show. This year, his show will be Thursday, December 14th from 7-11pm. It’s a whole evening of live performances by local New England musicians, with a definite holiday theme! We’ll be on sometime during the evening. Join us as part of the studio audience, tune in locally at 90.5FM, or stream online at http://www.wicn.org.

We’re continuing our monthly online Concert Window concerts on Tuesday, December 19th at 8pm. Put down the wrapping paper, curl up on the couch with a glass of eggnog, and tune in to http://www.concertwindow.com/danandfaith for a live concert streamed into your own living room. You can even send us messages while we’re performing!

We close out the month with another trip to the Farm Cafe at the Toadstool Bookstore in Keene, NH on Saturday, December 23rd. Combine the opportunity to pick up a last minute book for your hard-to-shop-for cousin, a late lunch with a decadent (but healthy) dessert, and some relaxing music. Need a break from holiday songs and the craziness of the malls? By then, so will we!  Music runs 3-5pm.

Our CDs Seeking and Simple Grace are available from us at our shows, on our website, or you can find them at CD Baby, iTunes and most other online music stores. Seeking has been specially mastered for iTunes, which gives higher fidelity over standard iTunes recordings.

As always, you can find additional schedule information on our website, https://www.danandfaith.com. For more frequent news updates and information, check out our Facebook fan page and follow us on Twitter (@danandfaith).

Our best wishes for a festive and joyous holiday season to one and all, and we hope you’ll make a New Years resolution to enjoy more local music in 2018!

Dream Journal – November 2017

Hello!

We’re sending this out a bit late this month because we’ve been traveling to see friends and hang out with our fellow musicians. It’s something we don’t get to do very often, because we’re usually focused on our own music. We spent the weekend of November 4th in the Philadelphia area to see our friend Meghan Cary’s CD release shows, and were honored to be able to join her on stage for a couple of songs each night. And we just got back from the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance conference, a business conference for folk musicians. While I know that sounds very dry and boring, it was anything but! Four days of reconnecting with old friends, meeting new friends, singing with people, and generally learning from one another. We returned home mentally and spiritually recharged (though massively sleep deprived!). Now it’s time for us to get back to our own music.

On Tuesday, November 21st at 8pm, we will again bring you the opportunity to see us live while staying in the comfort of your own home. Take a break from chopping vegetables for your Thanksgiving stuffing, pour yourself a mug of hot chocolate, curl up on the couch with your dog and a blanket, and tune in to Concert Window! We’ll bring you an hour of live music, from our living room to yours. It’s very simple: just bring up http://www.concertwindow.com/danandfaith on your favorite browser, turn up the volume, sit back and relax. If you’re running on a PC or Mac, you can even type messages to us as we play. How cool is that?

Once Thanksgiving is over, and you’ve survived Black Friday, take a break from the early holiday craziness and stop by the Farm Cafe at the Toadstool Bookstore in Keene, NH on Saturday, November 25th. We’ll play all original songs from 3-5pm. You can listen while shopping for gift books for your bookworm cousin, or while you tuck into a plate of buffalo cauliflower at the cafe. Don’t forget to browse their amazing desserts!

If you’re in the New York City area this weekend, join us at Meghan Cary’s CD release show in the heart of Greenwich Village at the Bitter End Saturday, November 18th at 7pm! Meghan’s new CD, Sing Louder, is absolutely delightful. She and her band will have you completely energized by the end of the show!

Our CDs Seeking and Simple Grace are available from us at our shows, on our website, or you can find them at CD Baby, iTunes and most other online music stores. Seeking has been specially mastered for iTunes, which gives higher fidelity over standard iTunes recordings.

We are thankful for all the wonderful venues that bring you live local music, and all you wonderful people who come out to listen!
