The Dream Journal – August 2019

Hello!

After teasing us all with a cool, wet spring, Mother Nature pulled out all the stops and started throwing heat and humidity at us. And zucchini. Hoo boy, do we ever have zucchini! Four of the healthiest zucchini plants we have ever seen in our entire lives are inundating us with enough zucchini that we’ve been donating a bunch to the local food bank and still have more than we can keep up with. But is it ever delicious! Nothing beats fresh-picked veggies from your own garden. Except maybe live music!

We’re headed down to Serendipity Cafe in Maynard, MA for the Serendipity Songwriters Session on Wednesday, August 14th. Our musical guests this month are Aaron Tornberg and Bo Veaner. This month’s song topic, as chosen by July’s audience, is “I swear in traffic“.  Stop in, have a tasty dinner and dessert, and enjoy some wonderful original songs! Plus, you get to help choose the song topic for September’s musicians. Music runs 7:30-9:30pm. Thanks to Beth DeSombre for hosting last month!

If you love fresh veggies and live music, there’s no better way to combine them than by coming by the Hartland, VT Farmers Market on Friday, August 16th! Great produce from local farms, good food from the food vendors, beautiful crafts, and music by yours truly. The market runs 4-7pm, and we’ll be playing starting at 4pm for an hour or so.

From there, we’ll be zipping across the river to the United Church of Acworth in Acworth, NH for their Friday, August 16th potluck dinner. This is one of those rare opportunities for us to play less than 5 miles from our house. The folks in Acworth have been very welcoming, and appreciate good local music. The gathering starts at 6:30pm.

Late August is prime harvest time in New England, so we’re off to the Salem, NH Farmers Market on Sunday, August 25th. This is a new market for us, and we’re excited to check it out! We’ll be trading sets with Aaron Tornberg. The market runs 10am-2pm.

We finish out the month at the Keene Music Fest in Keene, NH on Saturday, August 31st. There will be music all over town, but we highly recommend the Singer Songwriter Stage outside the Toadstool Bookshop. We’ll join Kim Snyder, Tom Pirozzoli, Richard Lewis, Jenny Burtis, Chris & John Boehmer, Ben Yelle, and Picket Hill for all original music from 1-8pm. We’ll be playing 2-2:45pm, but we highly recommend you check out all these other great musicians throughout the day. Grab a meal at the Farm Cafe in the front of the bookshop while you’re there, too!

To give you a quick sneak peek ahead, we’ll be playing at the Cooperstown Artisan Festival on the lawn of the Otsego County Courthouse in Cooperstown, NY on Sunday, September 1st from noon-2pm. Arts, crafts and music, in Faith’s home town!

Back in January, we played at Stage 33 Live in Bellows Falls, VT, and got some great videos of the show.  This month, we give you Faith’s song, Roller Coaster.  Life is a few unwelcome adventures, interspersed with beauty and joy.  Here’s hoping this video brings you a bit of joy.

Our CDs Seeking and Simple Grace are available from us at our shows, on our website, or you can find them at CD Baby, iTunes and most other online music stores.

As always, you can find additional schedule information on our website, www.danandfaith.com. For more frequent news updates and information, check out our Facebook fan page and follow us on Twitter (@danandfaith).

Music is a great way to build community. We could use a bit of that these days.

The Dream Journal – July 2019

Hello!

We were starting to wonder if we were going to see any warm, dry weather this month, as it’s been mighty damp and chilly here in our little corner of New Hampshire. Mother Nature finally obliged, and gave us a good dose of sun and warmth this past week. We even slept with the windows open in the bedroom. A lovely change! Today we’ve got the rain back, but the brief rainbow this evening was a nice treat.

Our musical month kicks off early with a Songwriters in the Round show at The Hearing Room in Lowell, MA on Monday, July 1st from 7-9pm. We share the evening with Mark Bishop Evans and Mary Crowe. The Hearing Room has a funky, artsy vibe that always makes us feel at home. Thanks to Mushroom Musicians for sponsoring the evening!

With the return of summer, we’re back into farmers market season, starting with the Keene Farmers Market in Keene, NH on Saturday, July 6th. The market runs 9am-1pm. A couple of bakeries and many local farms are regulars at this market that’s right in downtown Keene on the Cheshire Rail Trail. Stop by!

We’re back at a favorite market on Sunday, July 7th when we play at the Acton-Boxboro Farmers Market in West Acton, MA. Come shop for dinner, and then sit in one of the chairs around the music area and nibble on a snack while you listen. The market runs 10am-1pm, we kick off the music at 11am.

Our vegan diet has appeared in a song or two over the years, so we’re happy to be playing at the Mountain Veg Fest, the first ever Veg Fest in the Mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont, on Saturday, July 13th in Lebanon, NH. The festival will feature local sources of eco-friendly and cruelty-free products, hybrid and electric vehicles, expert speakers, cooking demos, vendors, and music! The festival runs 10am-4pm, we’ll be playing 12-1pm.

If you can’t get out to any of these locations to hear us, we can come to you! Or rather, we can bring our music to you directly via the internet. We’ll be doing an online concert on Monday, July 15th at 8pm Eastern time, and you can tune in from anywhere around the world where you can find an internet connection. We’re going to do the concert via Facebook Live this month. Just login to Facebook, “like” our page, and pull up the event here for details.

Beth DeSombre is hosting the Serendipity Songwriters Session on Wednesday, July 10th at the Serendipity Cafe in Maynard, MA. Beth is joined by Peg Espinola and Ric Allendorf. This month’s song topic, as chosen by June’s audience, is “Opportunity Cost“. Stop in, have a tasty dinner and dessert, and enjoy some wonderful original songs! Plus, you get to help choose the song topic for August’s musicians. Music runs 7:30-9:30pm. Thanks, Beth, for hosting!

Back in January, our performance at Stage 33 Live in Bellows Falls, VT was recorded on video. Faith’s song, Come Again Another Day, is one of the first videos we’ve posted from that show. We dedicate this to anyone who is dealing with a friend or loved one with dementia.  Subscribe to our YouTube channel to see more videos and to receive notifications when we add new ones.

Our CDs Seeking and Simple Grace are available from us at our shows, on our website, or you can find them at CD Baby, iTunes and most other online music stores.

Summertime is a great time to go listen to live local music! Festivals, farmers markets, wineries, and many other outdoor locations let you enjoy both music and warm weather. Look around your area!
