The Dream Journal – July 2024
Hello!
We’re starting into one of our favorite seasons of the year — garden season! That’s when all the tiny little plants we planted in the garden back in late May start getting big enough and mature enough to give us dinner ingredients. So far we’ve harvested six zucchinis, three pickling cucumbers, and the entire first batch of radishes. Oh, and a bit of parsley, basil and oregano, too. We have a number of green tomatoes that we’re watching expectantly as well. Though our one jalapeño pepper disappeared overnight! We were hoping to put it into tonight’s dinner, but it has vanished. We already have mesh circles around our kale and broccoli plants because something (we think mole or mouse) ate the original seedlings. We’re wondering if maybe our critter has a taste for spicy food?? Though it could also have been one of the neighborhood crows that’s been hanging around lately. Time to get the scarecrows out!
We’re doing an online in-the-round show today, Sunday, July 7th at 1pm Eastern time. Music Matters Showcase describes itself as, “A virtual Music Showcase featuring incredibly talented performers.” Tune in on MMS’s Facebook page for the fun, and to find out who else is joining us! If you miss it, not to worry — you’ll still be able to find the video on their page afterward.
You may recall our mentioning we’re working on a new album. All the tracks are recorded, and we’re finalizing the audio mix now. The packaging layout and such is in progress. But the big news here is that we have a title! Look for Who We Are to be coming out later this year. We can’t wait to share it with you!
The news these days can be pretty heavy, and there are a lot of stressful things happening in the world. So let’s lighten things up a bit, shall we? Back in February of 2023, we were on tour down in Florida and spent a few nights at a campground in the Everglades that had a central lake with camp sites surrounding it. Faith was trying to write a song one afternoon, and fell asleep under a palm tree. When she woke up, there was an 8 foot (or more) alligator lying on the edge of the lake! Over the next half hour or so, it decided to stroll through our campsite. Dan got some amazing pictures, and Faith got a song from it. Here’s our performance of Gator Gator at One Broadway Collaborative back in April.
Our albums Then and Now, Seeking, and Simple Grace are available from us at shows and on our website, through Bandcamp, or you can find them at iTunes and most other online music stores. Our music is also available streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.
