The Dream Journal – July 2022
Hello!
The summer heat is upon us, the fireflies are doing their best to compete with the neighborhood fireworks, and our fox kits appear to have grown up enough to be out hunting on their own, as we’re not seeing them nearly as often now. We have one doe who’s been bringing her two fawns around the yard; the fawns have been having a grand time playing antelope, leaping through the hayfield! A local male bluebird has decided he doesn’t like our garden camera, and keeps attacking it. And we got to meet our neighborhood porcupine mama and her baby up close when they were out for a stroll across our yard. Baby porcupines are adorable!
The music world is finally opening up for in-person activities again, but there’s still plenty of music happening online. Open Mic America holds an online open mic three times a month, and we’re taking part this Sunday, July 3rd! Tune in on their YouTube channel at 8pm Eastern Time for two hours of live original music in a wide range of styles by performers across the country, including us! If you’re not able to tune in live, they leave the streams up on the YouTube channel for you to catch at a later time.
In August of 2015, we bought ourselves a little Winnebago camper van and started touring the country. A few years later, we started attending the Winnebago Grand National Rally, an annual gathering of Winnebago owners held in Forest City, IA. We’ve played music at the rally a few times now, too. We were scheduled to play again at the 2020 rally, but for obvious reasons, the rally wasn’t held in 2020. We’re happy to be headed back out there this year, and will be playing two sets on Wednesday, July 20th at 1:30pm and at 8pm (or after the Trivia Contest, whichever is later). If you’re a Winnebago owner who’s going to be at the rally, check the Wednesday entertainment schedule for location, and come listen!
We have a bit of happy news to share this month — Faith has retired from her corporate job, which will free us up to do more travel and music! We’ve been lucky enough to be able to travel even with her working, but we have missed out on exploring a lot of very cool places because of her work schedule. Going forward, we’re considering where our travels should take us over the next couple of years. Want to help us plan? Got contacts at your local library or coffeehouse that hosts music? Interested in hosting a house concert yourself, or have a friend who might want to try hosting? Let us know!
Our albums Then and Now, Seeking, and Simple Grace are available from us on our website, through Bandcamp, or you can find them at iTunes and most other online music stores. Our music is also available streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.
